SPRINTS

On course towards future raucous, beer-soaked headline festival sets.” NME
“Screw-you power, relentless motorik rhythms and impressively large choruses.” The Guardian
"The Dublin gang neatly package existential panic into a buzzy, punchy musical box - DIY

This is an exploration of pain, passion and perseverance.” - SPRINTS

SPRINTS today announce their hotly-anticipated debut album Letter To Self, set for release Jan 5th via City Slang RecordsThe band also share new single Up And Comer, plus news of newly announced UK/EU tour and festivals to coincide with the album release. All this coming off the back of a big year of touring where SPRINTS forged a reputation as the must-see live band on the circuit; combining passion, vulnerability and fun in equal measure. SPRINTS have upcoming sold out shows in Ireland (Button Factory) and London (Scala) - full dates below.

On the new single, Karla Chubb, SPRINTS' lead vocalist, says

"Up & Comer is a pretty dry take on a fear and self consciousness that has been ruminating in me since I picked up an instrument. This innate fear that maybe I would always be 'good for a girl', but would I ever actually be great? It's an invisible narrative that has been constructed by the doubts and negativity I've been fed by others, as well my own imposter syndrome.

It's a song that takes aim at the idea that some of these traits and behaviours may almost be hereditary, and instead of letting that continue to hold me back, finally break free of the expected, embrace the anger and let it rip. The only way is forward
."

The dedication for SPRINTS’ debut album serves as a neat summation of their story so far. Transforming pain into truth, passion into purpose and perseverance into strength, the Dublin four-piece have steadily grown in stature over the last three years, sharing two acclaimed EPs and building a fearsome live reputation opening for the likes of Yard Act and Suede. Letter To Self is the sound of SPRINTS co levelling up once again, revisiting their most vulnerable moments and imbuing their visceral garage-punk with a palpable sense of catharsis that we can all benefit from.

Singer, guitarist and lead-songwriter Karla Chubb has never shied away from confronting inner turmoil. Born in Dublin, she spent a portion of her early childhood in Germany, initially turning to music as a consequence of feeling out-of-step with the world. “I lived in a constant state of existential crisis,” she recalls. “Music became an outlet for emotion, and a way for me to understand myself and society."

Despite being pre-debut album, SPRINTS have received a wealth of press support (The GuardianDork, DIY, NMELoud & Quiet, Clash, Gigwise and others). They've also won an abundance of support atBBC Radio 1 and BBC 6Music.
