Róisín Dubh is undoubtedly one of the best music and comedy venues in the country, bringing established talent to the city, while also providing a stage for emerging artists. With a great atmosphere, wonderful staff, and a real commitment and passion to music and comedy, it's one of the best places to see the best national and international acts around.

Róisín Dubh also brings a huge selection of acts to other venues, presenting music and comedy in Leisureland, Town Hall Theatre and the Black Box, as well as co-promoting Galway International Arts Festival Big Top.

Comedy at Róisín Dubh

Róisín Dubh has long been the driving force of comedy in Galway, with many great acts like Stewart Lee, Phill Jupitus & Rich Hall listing it in their top 10 venues in the world. 

Over the last few years we have treated Galway’s comedy fans to the likes of Bill Burr, Dylan Moran, Tommy Tiernan, Jack Whitehall, Nina Conti, John Bishop, Doug Stanhope, Gina Yashere, Kerry Godliman, Reginald D Hunter, Alan Carr, Michael McIntyre, Chris Distefano & Louis CK …to name a few. 

We have produced multiple hours of live stand-up shows for Ireland’s national broadcaster, RTÉ, over the years. In 2010 with ‘Stand & Deliver Live from Róisín Dubh’ and ‘Laughter In The Eyre’ in 2019, filmed at Galway Comedy Festival.

We are passionate about fostering our national comedy scene and keeping our audience engaged all year round through our club nights. We are comedy promoters by occupation and more importantly by vocation (we’re really into comedy).

With the annual Galway Comedy Festival, we generate millions of euros for the local economy, with an average of 18,000 tickets sold through the week. The event brings 100+ acts to the city for 65+ shows in 16 venues over 7 days & nights up to and including the October bank holiday weekend.

We have managed and promoted national tours of Ireland for comedians including Nina Conti, Stewart Lee, Dylan Moran, Reginald D Hunter, Andrew Maxwell, Steve Frost’s Improv All Stars, Karl Spain, Gary Delaney, Ruby Wax, John Colleary, Al Porter, Serena Terry & Katie Boyle.
