




THE shortlist for the top comic award (formerly the perrier and the if.comedies) at this year's Edinburgh Fringe has been announced.
Won last year by David O"Doherty, five stand-up performers and a comedy sketch group are in line for the prestigious award also previously won by the likes of Tommy Tiernan, Dylan Moran, Sean Hughes, Al Murray, Steve Coogan and Frank Skinner.
Judges sat through over 350 shows and selected Russell Kane, John Bishop (who featured regularly on RTE's "the Panel"), Jon Richardson, Tom Wrigglesworth, Tim Key and the four-piece Idiots of Ants.
The winner will be announced on Saturday.
Those up for best newcomer award won Sarah Millican last year are Carl Donnelly, Jack Whitehall, Kevin Bridges, Pete Johansson & Jonny Sweet.
Laughter Lounge regulars will remember Carl Donnelly show which he performed with us on July 23rd and Canadian Pete Johannson brought down the house on July 1st of this year. Other Laughter Lounge acts in that list include Kevin Bridges & Jack Whitehall who have both been with us in the last twelve months and Russell Kane was with us last April.
